About Me

I am very passionate and enthusiastic about carrying my children in wraps, slings and carriers and have been doing so with my own two boys since they were very young…

I have completed specialised training with the Slingababy Training School and Je Porte Mon Bebe Training school, L’école à porter. I am a Sling and Carrier Consultant that is aiming to get the empower parents to find solutions which best suit them with their baby. Carriers can be an amazing tool to deal with and share the load of caring for a baby and being empowered to use carriers right through to pre-schooler years makes the world open to you.

I also have a keen passion about extending the knowledge and awareness of using carriers to carry our children more broadly and commonly accepted into maternity facilities, women’s health sectors and other medical practitioners as I feel there is lots of benefit to be had by using this practice for many people, a lot of whom may not really be aware of the world of “babywearing”.

The fact is, as a species, we have been carrying our children for a very long time, carriers just assist us to do so.

I offer a range of services, focusing on small workshop settings to make the cost of consultancy services more affordable to parents. I do offer in home consultation and a Bump to Birth Package as I am really passionate about the benefits of feeling empowered and confident with your carrying options before you even have your baby-it can be an endless help in those first few months as baby transitions from womb to world.

I also work in a professional development capacity with retailers, health professionals and other practitioners to share knowledge, awareness and experience of slings and carriers to related service providers. I have aparticular area of interest is bringing awareness to the use of carriers and slings through maternity providers, pre and postnatal care and health services. I am also passionate about bringing more awareness to the benefits of carrying our children in carriers long beyond infancy.

About Babywearing

Babywearing is the term sometimes used to describe the act of using a wrap, sling or carrier to carry a child. There has been an increasing number of parents today that have started to again utilise this parenting tool that our Western society has, in recent generations forgotten.

For thousands of years, parents all over the world have carried their babies and children with them in a variety of ways and continued about their daily lives & work with babies who cry less, settle more quickly, can nap on the go, even feed on the go; all while safe and close to their parent or caregiver, whom they are also bonding with and learning from in the process.

For my family, when my eldest son was first born, we discovered that using a carrier to carry our son was a way we could continue doing bushwalks, a favourite activity for my husband and I. Since having my second baby I have come to appreciate and embrace babywearing even more as it allows to meet the needs of both my baby and toddler.

There are many choices and variety in the styles of slings, wraps and carriers options out there but what works best for you, will be the one that best suits your needs and like jeans or shoes, we are likely to all pick different options based on a number of different factors and preferences.

If at all possible, it is the best option for you to try a few different styles or brands before investing in a carrier yourself.
